Events for 2010

14th & 15th August. Biking British National Championships. South West Extreme – Bideford. The National Championships, the blue ribbon event in the Mountain Bike calendar are heading to North Devon’s South West Extreme centre. Saturday will see round five of the National 4x Series (NPS) Day time. Dirt Jump – Evening. On Sunday the UK’s tip riders including previous National Champions and professional riders Will Longden-Lapera, Oakley and Scott Beaumont – Rocky Mountain, Fox will be competing for the National 4x British Championship. Entry for spectators will be Free througho8t the weekend, and this is a unique oppotunity for all mountain bike fans to meet and watch some of the legends of the sport. 15th August. Appledore and Instow 50th Anniversary Regatta week. Model Yacht Racing. Royal George Slip, West Appledore 3.30pm.

18th August. Ilfracombe Rescue Day. Britain’s biggest Emergency Service LIVE Display Day. 10am – 4pm. Coastguard, Police Force, Fire Brigade., RAF 22 Squadron Rescue Helicopter, RNLI Lifeboat, Lifeguards, Search and Rescue, Ambulance Service and much much more. Live air-sea rescues, real fires, see the roof being cut off a car. Meet the real life professionals and learn what it takes to keep us safe. An unforgettable day of family action. Static displays, trampolines, climbing wall. Fresh burgers, excellent value with all proceeds going to local charities and good causes! Park and Ride. One day only.

19th August. (Thursday).Woolacombe. Smugglers and Wreckers walk and talk with the Nation Trust. Travel back in time to a land of lawlessness where smugglers and wreckers ruled the coast. 21st August. (Saturday). Ilfracombe Pilot Gig Regatta. All day, Ilfracombe Harbour. Watch teams from across the South West race against each other. Free to attend. For info visit www.ilfracombepilotgigclub.org.

25th August. Borough Farm. Sheepdog & Falconry displays at Woolacombe’s Borough Farm. Join us for an evening of amazing Sheepdogs and exciting Falconry. Wednesdays 6pm. The creator of Channel Five’s “Mist –sheepdog tales” David Kennard and one of the country’s finest falconers Jonathan Marshall treat you to a breathtaking display of skill and daring!
